Hi, I'm Joellyn!

Thank you

for taking the time to look around my website.

I hope you can find some helpful information here.

So, who am I?

I am a mom first and foremost. I have only 1 child, a son, who is the absolute light of my life. Every decision I make is based around his well-being and how it will affect him.

Second, I am a daughter. I am an only child myself and am very close to my two amazing parents.

I am a Christian. I don’t consider myself a “religious” person and please don’t ask me to quote the bible because I can’t, but I do have faith in God and Jesus Christ. This choice to believe brings me peace and gives me hope. And I am a FIRM believer that once you seek out your purpose in life, God will open amazing doors for you.

I am a Dyslexia Specialist. Check out my video on my dyslexia website page to find out why I chose this field.

I am a friend. I have been blessed with many amazing friends throughout my life and some have been with me since grade school. There is something special about having friends who have been with you through all the walks of your life and are still by your side.

I am a single mom. I know first- hand all the blessings and burdens that go along with being a single mom. I choose to focus on the blessings! I also lead a group of amazing women that are currently single mothers or have been in the past.

I am a dog lover and a Virginia native. I grew up primarily in Indiana, so I feel like I’m a true Hoosier. I currently live near Batesville, Indiana. Unlike John Mellencamp, I was not born in a small town, but I absolutely love this small town… and my dog, Sailor!

I am an adventurer. I love trying new things, exploring new places, meeting new people, and taking the road less travelled.

I am a survivor. I have survived both divorce and domestic violence. When I was almost 3 years old, my biological father passed away. My mother remarried a very mean, manipulative, and violent man that we lived with during my entire childhood. These circumstances were painful. I chose to not let them define me.

I am a grateful person. I battled fertility issues for years, so I am especially grateful for my son and the joy he brings into my life. I am also very grateful that my mother was able to eventually find the strength to leave her abuser. She later chose a wonderful man to marry. He legally adopted me when I was twenty-one years old, as his own child!

I am a lover of life. I truly appreciate the little things in life and realize that each day is a gift. I also realize that life is full of choices and how we CHOOSE will decide our peace and happiness. We cannot control the situations that are thrown our way, but we can CHOOSE how we react to them.

And last, but definitely not least, I am a professional speaker. I cover topics relating to anything mentioned above. All of my talks incorporate how choices play a part in whatever topic I am speaking about.

And I choose to add a little humor to every talk I give, even the more serious subjects:)

Talk to you soon!
